Capturing and processing document contents

Paper and digital worlds coexist and government and business users demand tools connecting these two environments. Paper is not going away and still plays an important role. End users need to manage large amounts of information residing in both hardcopy and electronic documents in both structured and unstructured formats.

At this stage, organizations must face the reality that they need to organize their paper documents and integrate them with digital workflow systems in an efficient and low-cost manner. Paper-to-digital conversion solutions can be used as a starting point to the digitization and integration of hardcopies into a content management system.

Systems for recognizing printed document content represent a powerful front-end processing tool significantly reducing costs related to the paper document handling environment. Traditional technologies utilized in this area include optical character recognition (OCR) systems, or advanced self-learning intelligent character recognition (ICR) methods. Even though these technologies have evolved into complex and sophisticated applications, their use is still limited by a number of factors, e.g. capacity or accuracy or other related limitations.

The digital form of data stored on paper has many advantages over the standard text approach. The information can be retrieved from the paper document even though the document is partially damaged, text or images are printed over the encoded data, or someone makes notes on the document.

PDMark® – Paper Data Mark is a worldwide licensed technology developed by ARDACO R&D teams, providing encoding and encryption of data on paper. The storing and retrieving process can be done with regular office printing and scanning devices with 100% accuracy.
